Death, Pain, and Suffering

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a rough couple of weeks. We had a fairly sudden death in our immediate family. To be perfectly honest, I haven’t really felt like doing much of anything at all. I’ve had no energy and have barely been able to put my thoughts together to form a complete sentence. This week, I did manage to drag myself through 2 miles on the treadmill, only to discover afterward that I had two different shoes on. See what I mean about barely getting by each day?

Have you ever had days like that?

Or weeks?

Or months?

Being a person who is prone to depression, I’ve become very familiar with this cycle. Having been through it so many times, I know that eventually there will be an end to the dark tunnel.

Do you know there will be an end to the darkness? Do you know there is light eventually? No matter how bleak your situation, all is not lost. Our Father in heaven knows the very number of hairs on our head. He knows the heartache we endure. He knows the tears we cry. He knows the hopelessness we feel. He knows and he cares immensely. He watched his own son suffer a cruel death at the hands of a misguided people. He knows our pain. He endured our pain when he died on the cross. He took on the sin of the world so we can have that light at the end of the darkness. So that we don’t have to suffer eternally.

Put your faith in Christ. He will never leave you or forsake you. He loves you with an everlasting love. Contrary to so many of my own thoughts, he cares about the pain you endure. He cares about the hurts you’ve been through. He cares. He loves. He IS love.
